This series of images portrays two walls that dominate the political, social and religious landscape of Israel and Palestine. First is the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, sacred to Jews as it is all that remains of the Second Temple that used to sit atop the mount.
Second is the Separation Barrier in the West Bank which consists of a network of fences with vehicle-barrier trenches surrounded by an on average 60 meter wide exclusion area and high concrete walls up to 8 meters high. The wall has courted controversy as it does not follow the 1948 Armistice Line and is seen by many as an illegal land grab and not as a way to prevent suicide bombers entering Israel.
